My 1.6 tdi taxi got 200k and still strong but I start to use a DTUK tuning box to get more power and extra MPG. 2.0 engine more economical then 1.6 for sure. Clutch on 140k and EGR on 100k.

There are many variables to consider, the 1.9 Will yield lower consumption and stock will be a little more nippy due to size. The 2.0 TDI golf is lovely and spacious with a few more luxuries than the Polo. The polo is an 8 valve motor, the 2.0 TDI is a 16 valve, and diesels are already expensive to fix as is.

Best bet would be to go with mk4 or Mk5 TDI’s (I’m slightly biased) It'd help if you specified 05/06 or 09/10 MK5 due to the different engines.
