For almost everyone, this is the only solution needed for this problem, as it's specifically a problem with your default patch server hosting incomplete copies of the files. For the few who still have a problem, it's caused by other software interfering with GW2's traffic, such as blocking specific URLs or injecting ads.
It will endlessly download the file over and over because what it downloaded isn't what it expected. This problem can be caused by the patch server, in which case the above would fix it, or by something else (other software or your ISP). First, confirm the hosts edit by repeating the steps, but using 127.0.0.1 for the IP.
This is James Fulop, Senior Engine Programmer on the Guild Wars 2 team. DirectX11 support is a project that has been a long time in the making. In this post I am going to go over some of the high-level technical decisions that were made to determine the shape of this project, as well as a walkthrough of our graphics runtime and how the DirectX11 renderer affects performance. Instead, create a Games folder on C:\ or on a separate partition if present, then create a subfolder called Guild Wars 2 . Place the GW2 installer in said folder and rename the file to Gw2-64.exe . Execuse the file. See if this solves your problem (s) permanently. Edited October 23, 2021 by Ashantara.8731. 1.
Hi guys, so I've had a hiatus from gw2 for like a year or 2 now lol and decided to get back into it. So I go and download the installer, and I open it, It shows it's downloaded like ~10MB then it disappears and pops back up, and this time its stuck on 0 and its frozen. I've googled and tried everything, admin mode, deleted its temp data from
Try using a VPN; that often solves the "won't download the last file(s)" issue. It may also help with your connection issues. You can read more about connection issues in the Knowledge Base accessed via the 'Support' link above/below and 'Search - Connection'. A VPN should have worked, assuming GW2 was actually tunneling through it and the VPN wasn't on the same network, thus potentially having the same problem. If multiple VPN servers around the world didn't work, it's likely a software problem. Running in safe mode would potentially fix that, except some software takes over the drivers.
Copy the gw2.dat from your GW2 folder on your PC. Download the setup from the GW2 site. Start the setup on the PC you want GW2 on. Close the setup after it starts downloading (When you see % completed) Copy the gw2.dat into the location of GW2 where you chose to install it to during the setup. Run the setup again and it should finish. No problems here been using it for a few weeks with the better CPU handling in windows 11 on modern CPU's you should see a slight improvement given how CPU bound GW2 is. 5. jsbyc • 2 yr. ago. 2. You can also try to open ports: 80, 443, and 6112 for GW2, in case you have a firewall in your OS, or your network is blocking a lot of ports. 80 and 443 should be open by default since that's what we use for browsing. (80 for http; and 443 for https) (6112 shouldn't matter since it's used while playing the game, but you never know) 3.

Apparently I have found and fixed the download problem (in my particular case). Long time, maybe several months, if not a year ago I changed the command line in the GW2 shortcut to this:"C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe" -assetsrv 174.35.71.9:80and all the time since that my client was using an address 174.35.71.9 as the asset server.
