A reliable and adaptable hatchback, a Mirage is usually a great used car to purchase. I chose the Skoda Fabia on the recommendation of a friend. The car, which now has 100 000 miles on the clock has been reliable (it did not require repairs for this year's MOT) economical (it uses a pound's worth of diesel for 10 miles in an urban setting) and comfortable (although some passengers have complained about the seats being hard).
The answer has to be yes, as the Fabia is every bit as good as its rivals and in most cases a fair bit cheaper, too. One of Skoda's most important cars is the little Fabia, its entrant in the crucial supermini class. It has been the entry point for the brand since it first appeared in 1999 and its combination of small car thrift alongside quality and reliability has won it many fans. Now the Fabia has reappeared in third generation form. This Skoda's ride quality is set-up to prioritise comfort and it deals with normal tarmac tears quite adeptly and works well for highway cruising. Plus the Fabia impresses when it comes to low speed manoeuvrability, its light steering, tight turning circle and great all-round visibility making town travel easy. Most amazing was its maintenance friendly nature-very reliable, no breakdowns and with least niggles. The turbo engine though coarse, was punchy, efficient with minimum turbo lag. All in all, I am mighty impressed with the Skoda Fabia and would buy one without wasting a second, if such piece of engineering is made available again by Skoda.
