Just the 70-200 @ 200mm and the Canon Extender Mark III. The Extender is fairly large so it adds a good amount of length to the Canon EF 70-200mm L 2.8 IS lens. Because of this, you should try to use a tripod whenever possible and when you do, attach the tripod mount to the lens and not the camera body to prevent damaging the lens contacts.
In reply to J.K.T. • Apr 25, 2021. It is the Canon EF 2x II which is the only stackable extender. It can stack with any of the three EF 1.4x extenders. The EF 1.4x goes on to the camera body and the EF 2x II has a bigger rear opening to fit onto the protruding front element of the 1.4x. You can even stack the EF 2x II on top of the EF 2x III.

The prime is much faster in that you can use the combination as a full time lens (a lot of people buy 300 2.8 II because of its performance with 2x III, whereas a lot of people buy 2x III because it "can" be used with 70-200 II, big difference). You also need to stop it down to 7.1, the IQ @ 5.6 is unacceptably soft.
Stopping this combination down to f/5.6 results in very good sharpness. Adding the 2x III reduces sharpness/contrast even more. With the 2x mounted, CA remains similar to that of the 1.4x and barrel distortion is reduced. Again, a 1-stop narrower aperture results in a more-pleasing image when the 2x extender is in place.

You are 3.5 years too late and the good advice given at the time contradicts yours. An EF 300/2.8 L gains IQ through either teleconverter. The EF 2x does reduce effectiveness of AF, but it can still deliver keepers. The big superzooms can't deliver competitive IQ and the f6.3 aperture will affect AF as much as the 2x does on the 300/2.8.

Ease of Use. In terms of its size and weight, the Canon EF 70-200mm F2.8L IS III USM is in the middle of the pack for an F2.8 70-200mm lens, measuring 20cms in length and weighing in at 1.48kg. It's about the same size as the Tamron SP 70-200mm F/2.8 Di VC USD G2 and noticeably lighter than the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports lenses.
